Please meet Kylie and Snowflake, through my eyes, and in my words.
As it turns out, both of them were pretty young when they met and Snowflake became attached instantly to Kylie. Their relationship has been described as that of ‘best friends’, but after watching this segment I think you might agree that it goes further than this. You see, Snowflake believes that this little girl is his mom. Kylie doesn’t disagree.
A lot of kids go to the park to see ducks, but 5-year-old Kylie Brown takes her duck to see the park. Snowflake swims around the pond and then he returns when called, because Snowflake sincerely believes that Kylie is his mother, and the duck is not alone in his way of thinking.
“I’m his mom,” Kylie said. When she was reminded that she is not really the duck’s mom, she disagreed. “Yep, I’m his mom.”
This friendship between a little girl and a duck is happiness and love without any need of explanation or logic. It simply is. And it’s magical and beautiful. It shows us trust, it is uncomplicated, and without judgement.
If only every creature and human were as lucky as these two, our world would be such a beautiful harmonious place to exist in. I believe we can all learn something from watching the relationship that exists here.
