Go ahead – please – eat and enjoy the cupcake!
I know what you’re thinking… what about all of those extra calories? How many extra minutes will this add to my workout if I partake in the offer? Is it true that this will go straight to my hips? Fear not, my friends. It’s worth every…single…calorie. I’m not saying a free cupcake has no calories. I think experts will agree that they have the same number of calories as a cupcake that you pay for.
For me, the answer to the offer remains unchanged. You should absolutely have one — especially if it’s free. It may not be a cupcake. It may be a donut. Or a coffee. Or the offer to join someone for coffee.
I think we should all show gratitude for gifts from family, friends, the universe or whomever is offering this wonderful moment to you. After all, this likely isn’t a situation you are going to find yourself in every day.
This, as with other random acts of kindness we are fortunate to receive, is an example of breaking the rules of every day practicality and tradition and experiencing “life”.
Enjoy these moments. Please don’t let convention and practicality get in the way of enjoying life’s pleasures when they are offered to you. You deserve fun and pleasure and whatever it is that makes your soul sing.
While we have you thinking about what makes your soul sing, and free cupcakes, perhaps this will inspire you to do the same for others. Random acts of kindness are, in fact, contagious. Perhaps you would like to create special moments for those around you by baking up a batch of cupcakes and delivering them to others. The happiness you will encounter as the ‘giver’ is hard to describe, but may be likened to ‘having your cup refilled’.
I hope you find a way to spread kindness in our world, today and every day.
